How is AdBlue used?
Many modern diesel engines, particularly Euro IV, Euro V and Euro VI commercial vehicles, are equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction technology, which requires the use of AdBlue.
AdBlue is stored in a dedicated tank separate from the vehicle's diesel fuel system. During operation, a controlled amount of AdBlue is automatically injected into the exhaust stream as exhaust gases pass through the SCR system.
Once injected, AdBlue reacts with heat inside the exhaust system and breaks down harmful NOx emissions into harmless nitrogen and water vapour before they are released into the atmosphere.
